Where to Ask First

For an Alcona County arrest, start with the sheriff's office because the local jail may handle booking and bonding even though it is not operating as normal overnight housing. If the person did not bond out, the 2026 contract-housing path points to Alpena County Jail. Older records may involve Iosco County Jail because the sheriff's current corrections page still describes that earlier lodging route.

Use these channels based on the question you need answered:

  • For a current local custody check, start with jail inmate records and call the Alcona sheriff or Alpena Corrections if the roster path is unclear.
  • For a booking image, see the jail roster mugshots page and be ready to use Alcona County FOIA if no online photo is posted.
  • For charges after arraignment, use court records after a jail arrest, MiCOURT, District Court, Circuit Court, or the prosecutor's office.
  • For a facility-specific issue, use the Alcona County Jail or Alpena County Sheriff's Office & Jail pages listed in the footer.
  • For a sentenced state prisoner, use Michigan Department of Corrections OTIS rather than the county jail.
  • For federal or immigration custody, use the BOP inmate locator, ICE Online Detainee Locator System, or the correct federal court or agency contact.

For public-records requests to Alcona County, use the county FOIA page and describe the record as specifically as possible. A request for a booking record should include the person's name, date of birth if known, arrest or booking date, incident number if known, and whether you want inspection or copies.
